Ads I've Designed

These are samples of telephone directory spec ads I have done for clients and potential clients. Specific information of each business has been changed. My strategy is to design an ad that will attract the potential customer that my client most desires, and make my client the one that yellow pages users will call when they look in the directory. If the ads were published, rights to use the image was purchased, or similar copyright-free art was used.

This is an ad for a computer service & sales shop

This is an ad for an Australian stone & tile dealer.

This is an ad for a home health care service

This is an ad for a massage studio that wanted to make clear what their work was about.

This is an ad for an indian restaurant

This is an ad for a sushi restaurant that wanted to target a young, trendy clientele.

This is an ad for a Chinese restaurant.

This is an ad for a mediterranean restaurant that also has pizza and hookah pipes.

This is an ad for an auto repair shop that specializes in Lexus & Toyota

This is an ad for La Quinta Hotel on Van Ness in San Francisco.

This is an ad for a locally, family-owned hotel in San Francisco

This is an ad for a new age gift shop in Auburn, CA

This is an ad for a mexican restaurant in Newcastle, CA

This is an ad for a staffing firm in San Francisco

This was a spec ad for a fish & chips place in Lincoln, CA

This is an ad for an experienced children's photographer in Auburn, CA

This was a spec ad for a new italian deli in Lincoln, CA

This is an ad for an experienced muralist who is just beginning to grow her business. She's been targeting children's themed work, but now wants to target homeowners and businesses. She wanted her ad to reflect the diversity of her very customized work. This was achieved primarily by showing one of her pieces of work that was fairly general and then adding more specific copy points.

These are two ads for a business owner who is very well known for one type of business in his community, but has recently expanded into a related field.

The first ad was speced for the back cover of the directory, the second was for the blinds classification.

This is an ad for Landscape contractor who has a great eye for style. He wanted the consistency in his branding between his business card, web site and trucks to carry through to his yellow pages advertising.

An ad for a private investigator who wanted to target corporate work, not private sector surveillance. It is for this reason that this client wanted to specifically avoid any kitschy private investigator imagery, and position himself as an organization that could get the job done.

An ad for a remodeling contractor who targets kitchen remodels and already has a web site with examples of his work. We used a photo of a higher end kitchen than his previous ad suggested to target more profitable work for him.

An ad for a local nail salon. Instead of using the typical directory advertising illustration of a hand holding a rose, or a photograph of just a hand, I wanted to show the hand or nails connected to a person to convey a whole look or a feeling that by using their services, potential clients could have that look or feeling.
